Awami League’s manifesto tells the story of development tradition: Dr. Atiur Rahman.

The Awami League’s election manifesto undoubtedly tells the story of the country’s development tradition, said Dr. Atiur Rahman, emeritus professor of Dhaka University and former governor of Bangladesh Bank.

He said, the story of moving from digital Bangladesh to smart Bangladesh is the manifesto of this time. It is not just a story, it also has an outline. At the same time, Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has highlighted the challenges in different areas. On Saturday (30 December) morning, he said these things at a discussion meeting titled ‘Awami League’s Manifesto: Smart Bangladesh’ at the Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club.

The Education, Research and Development Forum of Bangladesh (ERDFB) organized the event with the motto of ‘Education, Research and Development’. Dr. Atiur Rahman said, Bangabandhu’s daughter’s path was never easy. Yet, she has brought us to the path of inclusive development by facing various challenges in the last 15 years. I urge the young generation to go to the polling station and vote in the upcoming election. At the discussion meeting, Dr. Hafizur Rahman Karzon, professor of law department of Dhaka University, said, under the rule of Awami League, the per capita income of the people of Bangladesh has increased five times in 15 years. The size of the country’s budget has increased 12 times. Besides, the participation of women in the labor market has increased by 43 percent, which has played a big role in the overall economy. If the declared manifesto is implemented, it will make Bangladesh more respectable in the developed world.

Dr. Farzana Islam, former vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, said, there is talk of rising commodity prices in the market. But what is happening in the neighboring countries is not being said. We have to remember that we have come out of a crisis along with the whole world. In the next election, the young people have to go to vote. The country will be beautiful if everyone goes to vote regardless of religion and nation. Dr. A Q M Mahbub, vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University in Gopalganj, said, the current government has brought various technologies in agriculture after coming to power in the last 15 years, which has led to an agricultural revolution in the country. If the manifesto is implemented, it will ensure food security for the country’s 180 million people as well as export agricultural products and make the country more self-reliant economically.

Dr. Mohammad Sajjad Hossain, member of the University Approval Commission, presided over the discussion. Among others, Dr. Nasim Akhtar, vice-chancellor of Chandpur Science and Technology University, Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, former vice-chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dr. Badruzzaman Bhuiya, vice-chancellor of Barisal University, spoke. At the end of the discussion, they urged the people of all classes and professions, including the young generation, to go to the polling station and vote for ‘Go Vote’ campaign in front of the National Press Club.
