The Samajtantrik Mahila Forum has demanded justice for the involvement in the rape of a second class Madrasa student in Muksudpur, Gopalganj.

The Samajtantrik Mahila Forum has demanded justice for the involvement in the rape of a second class Madrasa student in Muksudpur, Gopalganj.

This demand was made in a joint statement sent by Samajtantrik Mahila Forum Central Committee President Engineer Shampa Basu and General Secretary Advocate Dilruba Noori to the media on Friday (February 9).

The statement said, according to the news published in the newspaper, a madrasa teacher raped a second class girl in a madrasa of Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj last Wednesday evening. Her father said that after returning home, his daughter felt physically very sick, so he took her to the Upazila Health Complex. Doctors and nurses there said her daughter had been raped. The statement also said that most working-class families in the country send their children to madrasas under some sort of compulsion. Because when both parents go to work, there is no one to watch the child. So if you stay in the madrasa all day, on the one hand, you get some education, and on the other hand, you feel safe from religious thoughts. But in madrasahs, young boys and girls are often subjected to physical, mental and sexual abuse. After a few days, the news of student rape in madrasa came in the newspapers from different parts of the country. Capitalizing on the religious beliefs and economic instability of the people of the country, some people are continuing to practice their perverse tastes day after day. But almost never justice or peace is observed.

It is the responsibility of the state to educate all the people of the country. It is the responsibility of the state to build day care centers for the children of all professional, working families. It is the responsibility of the state to ensure the safety of all citizens. When the state refuses or fails to fulfill its responsibilities, it affects all levels of society. I demand immediate arrest and trial of the rapist. Besides, I demand the state to take responsibility for the education and safety of all the children of the country.
