A section of candidates have formed a human chain demanding the cancellation of the assistant teacher recruitment exam in government primary schools, alleging widespread irregularities and fraud. They also said that more than 150,000 candidates could not participate in the first phase of this recruitment. They claimed that more than 1 lakh 58 thousand candidates of three categories could not participate in the examination due to strike-blockade and hostile weather. For this reason, the recruitment test which was held in 18 districts of Rangpur, Barisal and Sylhet divisions on December 8, should be canceled and a new test should be conducted under normal conditions after the election.
They have applied to the Director General of the Department of Primary Education (DPE) to collect their demands. Apart from this, the process of filing a writ in the High Court is also going on, said the agitators. Before this, the first phase of the examination for the appointment of assistant teachers in government primary schools was completed on Friday (December 8). Farid Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said that the result of this examination may be published by December 24.
On this day from 10 am to 11 pm in the first phase, the examination was held simultaneously in 18 districts of Rangpur, Sylhet and Barisal divisions. The districts are Rangpur, Gaibandha, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Barisal, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barguna, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj and Moulvibazar. The total number of examinees in three categories this time was 3 lakh 60 thousand 697 people. This is the first time that the application and recruitment test is being conducted by department. Notification is published in three stages in this batch-based recruitment.
