Due to rent, the magistrate took the fish from the pond

"Due to the arrears of the lease money, several lakh taka worth of fish from the pond of the youth cooperative society were caught by net and seized. There is a complaint against the assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate Firoz Hossain of Adamdighi in Bogra. The executive magistrate fell into the wrath of the excited villagers while catching fish. Later he left the village by an alternative route.

This incident took place in the Doharpur village of the upazila this morning. After the incident, the upazila's Awami League leader, UP chairman and fish traders met with the upazila executive officer (UNO) Rumana Afroj for a long time to bring the situation under control.

It is learned that there are 407 government ponds and water bodies in various unions of Adamdighi upazila. Most of the ponds have arrears of lease money. To arrange for the collection of arrears, this morning, with the police, the executive magistrate Firoz Hossain conducted a raid on a pond leased in the name of Dalmaba Purba Para Unemployed Youth Cooperative Society Limited, which is 94 percent of the lease. He caught the fish in the pond with a net and took them away in four vans. Later the fish were sent to be sold by auction in the market.

Mizanur Rahman, president of the Dalmaba Purba Para Unemployed Youth Cooperative Society, said that the pond was leased in the name of his society from Bengali 1428 to 1430. He claimed that there was an arrears of four and a half thousand taka in the office of the assistant commissioner. The executive magistrate Firoz Hossain raided his pond today for the offense of arrears. He brought the net from another upazila and took away several lakh taka worth of fish from the pond. After catching the fish with the net, many fish died and floated.

Mizanur Rahman said, 'I could not show the DCR of the lease at that moment. I asked for time to show the lease papers later, but the assistant commissioner ignored it and seized the fry fish. The executive magistrate left by another route in the wrath of the excited people.'

The assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate Firoz Hossain of Adamdighi said that the raid was conducted in accordance with the rules of the pond. And Adamdighi UNO Rumana Afroj said that the matter will be settled after checking the mistake."
